Overview

A focused restoration studio for faded, scratched or incomplete photographs. Users choose a tool, add optional context, and compare the AI result side by side with the source before saving — no editing skills required.

The problem

Restoring a damaged family photo by hand takes hours of skilled Photoshop work, and one-click AI filters silently invent details that were never in the original.

Approach & key decisions

  1. Three tools in one workspace — Restore, Expand and Generate — with face reconstruction, colourisation and upscaling.
  2. Optional reference images and a text description (clothing, period, intended colours) guide the reconstruction.
  3. Original and restored versions stay side by side; the UI states plainly that AI may reconstruct details differently from historical reality.
  4. Accounts with Supabase, image storage on Cloudflare R2 and Stripe billing.
